The Expando Gas Fire Pit Pan

The Expando Gas Fire Pit Pan is a pan the will adapt the workings of a gas fire pit to just about any structure or vessel. Its a pan that has a flexible outside diameter that adapts to any irregularities of the fire pit. This gives us the ability, among other things to make just about anything into a fire feature. The driving force behind the design was to make installing the gas guts into any exiting fire pit and when completed the fire pit looks awesome with no stainless steel trim showing and most of all our two piece pan system makes any further maintenance a breeze.

Take a look at the rock work around this fire pit. How can you get a pan installed in the pit to compensate for it's irregular shape and still hold lava rock without falling through? Then look at the inside of the coping where it over hangs into the fire pit.

This is a start to finish look at an "EXPANDO PAN" in a square configuration.

This is the fire at he stage where it's ready to have the gas guts installed. Notice the flexible gas line connected to the gas shut off valve. We are going to screw this flex line to the burner after the pan is installed. The bricks on the inside will support the pan. We use bricks because they make adjusting the pan up or down a lot easier and the are cheap and usually readily available. THree stacks works fine.

This pic is with the primary pan installed into the fire pit. Notice how the pan has a frame that is smaller the the inside of the fire pit. And there is a Stainless Steel mesh (Skirt) on the out side of the square pan. This skirt fills the void between the frame of the pan and the inside wall of the fire pit giving a nice flat, full surface to pay the lava rock on.

This is a pic of the completed install. Once the primary pan is put into place the the secondary pan, which contains the burner is in connected to the gas flex supply line and then the pan is put into place as shown. Now we are ready to cover with lava rock.

This is what the finished product looks like. But it does not make a square fire round. Lol. Sorry but on the square fire I didn't get a picture of it full of lava rock but I did get a picture of this round pit that was completed using the "Expando Pan". Notice on the inside of the fire pit you don't see any stainless steel burner or trim or anything. And if you ever need to do any maintenence in the future you simply grab the secondary pan (the smaller pan with the burner installed) and lift it up and set it on the side of the pit and do any maintenance and reinstall. You never have to remove the lava rock unless the burner needs replacing.
